Children, Youth + Family

Dear young art lovers!
Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky or Marc Chagall – you may have heard some of these names before. Why? Because in their pictures and sculptures they did everything differently than it had been done before. How? That’s what you will learn when you take part.

The Art of Being Myself

Workshop for young people from 13 to 18

Am I chaotic or do I only appear so? What style suits me? Is what I like most also what I can do best? Based on the exhibition, we will discuss artworks ranging from Impressionism and Expressionism all the way to abstract art and on the next day paint the impressions we have gained. Using the self-portrait, we will discover ourselves and our own style. Afterwards we will express ourselves in a free work. In a joint exhibition we will present all our works to our families and friends.
The workshop is conceived and conducted in the frame of our youth program by Kayra Arslanoglu Çekiç (18 years) and Jana Markgraf (20 years).

In cooperation with JugendKunst- und Kulturhaus Schlesische27.

Danceworkshop for children 4 years and older and families

Can a color make a friendly or dangerous impression, can a form be slow or fast? What feelings and what sounds do we associate with quiet patterns or bright color explosions? What spatial effects can they create? After a tour of the show, two choreographers will assist in transposing different paintings into dance movements from which wild, quiet, comical, or eerie dances will be transformed. Afterwards the dance will be presented to friends and families.

In cooperation with TanzZeit - Zeit für Tanz in Schulen.

Afterwards young and old can engage in art themselves, while there’s a brunch for the entire family.

Guided Tour for the Hearing Impaired for Kids and Families

(Registration required until Wednesday, January 23, 2013)

A blue dab under a black one – what could that be? What do you see in it? What could the artist Jean Arp have meant? Or take Piet Mondrian’s “Composition” with the many boxes stacked upon each other – could one see an apple tree in it?
In a sort of paper chase, we will explore the exhibition and recognize in individual pictures how color and form become increasingly independent and, in the end, freely merge to form new patterns.
After our tour through Impressionism and Classical Modernism, you can let colors and forms dance by creating your own pictures – any way you like.

The guided tour will be translated by Daniel Meixner, sign language interpreter.

Dates and costs

Sunday, 27.01.2013, 2-3:30 p.m.

Cost: 3 euros per person, 8 euros per family

Guided Tour for the Blind for Kids and Families

(Registration required until Wednesday, January 23, 2013)

A form that feels like a boot with two heels? Boxes stacked upon boxes – what could that be? What does that remind you of, what comes to your mind? Perhaps an apple tree? A dance? Or the sun – or snow? What could the artists’ intentions have been? With the help of touch models, you can explore selected pictures of the exhibition and find out what it’s like when forms suddenly become independent, tumble about wildly or are freely joined together again. After the tour, you can let the forms dance and assemble them to pictures – any way you like.

Dates and costs

Sunday, 27.01.2013, 4-5:30 p.m.

Cost: 3 euros per person, 8 euros per family
